在安装人造文化石之前，应先将施工面上的脏东西、灰尘等清干净。如是重新装修，则要将以前的油漆、粘接剂等物清洗干净，并将其加工成粗糙的表面，再在这种底面上进行粘贴施工。如果底面是木质、塑料质等低吸水性光滑面，须钉铺铁丝网，做出新泥浆底面，充分养生后，再在这种底面上施工。

在施工过程中，尽量避免将水泥砂浆或其他粘接剂弄到砖(或岩)的表面。若不小心出现此现象，则须待其干燥后，用刷子小心剔除，以免影响装饰效果。注意选择在晴朗、干燥的天气施工，避免下雨天或潮湿、大雾的环境下作业，以保证粘贴牢固。施工完毕后，较好有24小时保持干燥的状态，以达到较 的粘接层养护。
